Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) in Workers Compensation Claims

Insurance companies and/or company doctors will often have you go through a Function Capacity Evaluation (FCE) in physical therapy.  The purpose of an FCE is to determine your work restrictions for return to work after a job injury.  FCEs are sometime used to give impairment ratings as well.  Impairment ratings  An FCE can have a negative impact and hurt your workers compensation claim if you do not understand how the testing works.  We meet with our clients and explain how and what the FCE is testing so that you do well on the test.  We will help you get a result that reflects your proper work restrictions and level of disability.  Without an understanding of the testing procedures, many injured workers have invalid tests that the insurance companies use to reduce disability awards and work restrictions.  Insurance compaines and adjusters attack the credibility of symptoms as exaggerated or faked.  We can prepare you to avoid a bad result in your FCE.  We Can Help

Weekly Compensation Rate

The weekly compensation rate is 2/3 's of your average weekly wage up to a maximum amount each year in South Carolina.  The maximum weekly compensation rate for injuries arising on and after January 1, 2014 is $752.16.  This is the most you can be paid weekly while out of work because of injuries that occur or arise after January 1, 2014.  Lost Wages/Lost Pay

Transportation Expenses/ Mileage To and From Pharmacy Visits

The insurance company must also pay for your mileage to and from pharmacy visits to fill authorized prescriptions if the round trip mileage is over 10 miles. We will provide you with forms to claim mileage reimbursement. Insurance companies frequently deny qualifying trips to the pharmacy, but these are payable under workers compensation in South Carolina.  We submit  mileage sheets monthly so that our clients get correctly reimbursed by the insurance company

Mileage Expense To and From Medical Visits

The insurance company must pay for your mileage expenses to and from medical visits if the round trip mileage is over 10 miles. We will provide you with forms to claim mileage reimbursement. It is best if you submit a mileage sheet to us every month so that we can keep up with your reimbursements.
