South Carolina accident results in death of motorcyclist

An accident that happened around noon on Aug. 7 in Kershaw County resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The accident involved a collision between the motorcycle and a pickup truck.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the pickup truck was trying to make a turn onto the highway. In doing so, it pulled in front of the motorcycle, which resulted in a collision between the two vehicles.

The 43-year-old motorcyclist was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck’s driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured. An investigation was still going on at the time of the report. No charges have been filed against the driver.

Motorcycle accidents that cause fatalities may result in serious concerns about who was at fault. There is often an assumption that the motorcyclist was being reckless and the driver simply did not see them. However, in many cases, these accidents are the fault of the driver. A careful determination of liability is necessary for the family of a deceased victim to go forward with legal action.

Collisions can cause catastrophic injuries. Even if a helmet or other protective gear is worn, there is still a risk of serious or fatal injury. Family members affected by the death of a loved one have a heavy burden to bear following an accident. Besides this emotional burden, they may also have to deal with final expenses as well as lost income. Surviving family members may benefit from seeking the help of a lawyer in order to file a wrongful death case and recover compensation for these damages from the liable driver.
