Police announced that charges were brought against a woman involved in an accident with a motorcycle that left one person dead. The incident was reported by the South Carolina Highway patrol to have happened around 7:40 p.m., April 18, in Garden City. A motorcycle was traveling north on Highway 17 when a Mercury car crossed into its path. The operator of the car was attempting to turn onto Highway 17 from Cypress Avenue at the time of the incident. The motorcycle operator was forced to lay the motorcycle down hard in an attempt to avoid colliding with the car.
In South Carolina, one person was killed and five people were injured in a deadly collision involving a church van on March 24. According to news reports, the accident happened in Loris when a van from Faith Apostolic Church in Nakina drove through a stop sign and crashed into a Chevy pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 747 and Highway 9 Bypass. Emergency crews from South Carolina Highway Patrol, Horry County Police Department, Horry County Fire and Loris Fire responded to the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol have reported that one person lost their life and several others suffered injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Lexington County during the early morning hours of Nov. 25. The SCHP is being aided in their investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office. The car accident took place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of an accident around 8 p.m. on Nov. 4. The motor vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 385 in Laurens County at milepost 15.
A Nov. 8 car accident left three South Carolina residents dead after a man allegedly drove his truck while impaired. The accident took place an approximate half mile from the driver's home, and he accompanied by a passenger in his vehicle. The truck was traveling on the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and East Calhoun Street at approximately 12:17 a.m. when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
On Sept. 25, a Florence County accident involving four cars resulted in multiple injuries. Police reportedly detained and charged a man in connection with the incident.
A car crash occurred on Sept. 13 after a South Carolina woman allegedly failed to yield the right of way at an Oconee County stop sign. The wreck reportedly happened in Seneca at approximately 8 p.m.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office recently charged a 20-year-old man with felony DUI following a fatal accident. The August 16 crash reportedly happened at about 12:30 p.m. on River Road.
Three teenagers were injured in a single-car crash in South Carolina on Aug. 14. Police said the driver of the car, an 18-year-old man, intentionally caused the car accident, driving off the road in Hartsville and crashing into a tree. The car was reportedly totaled.
In February, General Motors initiated a recall of six vehicle models, including the Saturn Ion and Chevrolet Cobalt, but documents acquired through the Freedom of Information Act suggest that the automaker had been warned about potential problems with the cars several years earlier.
