Charges pending for driver in multi-vehicle South Carolina crash

On Sept. 25, a Florence County accident involving four cars resulted in multiple injuries. Police reportedly detained and charged a man in connection with the incident.

According to officials, the four-vehicle wreck transpired on Alligator Road after the man collided head-on with another vehicle. Due to the force of the impact, the man’s vehicle spun and crashed into two additional vehicles. Subsequently, the man fled the accident scene on foot, officials allege.

It was not clear immediately following the incident exactly how many people suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. According to authorities, emergency personnel transported multiple people to a hospital, where they were treated and released.

Nor was it immediately clear what caused the collision, according to law enforcement officials. The man detained by police following the accident is facing charges of hit-and-run with property damage and hit-and-run with personal injuries.

Spinal cord injuries, brain trauma and broken bones are common critical injuries associated with car accidents. In many cases, the extent of the injuries people suffer in an accident does not become manifest immediately after the crash. Oftentimes, the full severity of an accident-related injury reveals itself only after several days or even weeks. That is one reason it is crucial for accident victims to seek the counsel of both a medical professional and a lawyer following an accident irrespective of the apparent severity of their injuries.

The lawyer may advise whether a personal injury claim appears warranted. If so, the lawyer may help claimants marshal together the resources, materials and evidence necessary to establish a personal injury case strong enough to convince a civil court that the at-fault parties should be held liable.
