S.C. Highway Patrol investigating fatal I-20 accident

The South Carolina Highway Patrol have reported that one person lost their life and several others suffered injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Lexington County during the early morning hours of Nov. 25. The SCHP is being aided in their investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. The car accident took place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at approximately 5:00 a.m.

According to a news release, the accident occurred when a Chrysler minivan struck a Dodge truck in the vicinity of U.S. Route 178, which is also known as Fairview Road. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound at the time of the collision. Police did not immediately release details about what may have caused the collision.

Emergency services personnel arriving at the scene found that several of the minivans occupants had been injured in the crash. A 77-year-old man who had been a passenger in the vehicle succumbed to his injuries as he was being transported to an area medical facility. It was later reported that the deceased man had been a resident of Decatur, Georgia. The driver of the minivan and a number of other passengers were also transported to area hospitals for treatment. There were no immediate details released regarding the severity of their injuries. The driver of the truck escaped the accident without injury.

While the cause of this accident may still be under investigation, collisions such as this one are often caused by driver fatigue or distraction. Those involved in motor vehicle accidents often suffer debilitating injuries, and they may be prevented from working for prolonged periods as a result. A personal injury attorney may seek civil remedies on behalf of car accident victims when their injury, loss or damage was caused by negligent actions. This kind of litigation could seek compensation for an accident victim’s lost income as well as their medical expenses and property damage.

Not only was he able to go up and beyond the call of duty for me, he knows his client and your not a number to him. John was a beacon of hope to me at a time when my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed nigh on impossible.

I highly recommend this law firm. King Smith represented me for a wreck in 2019 and obtained a fair and fast resolution to my claim.

We're at the end of the case now and I have nothing but confidence in my attorney. After a workplace injury, friends wanted me to hire a lawyer. When I finally reached that point, John Griffith turned out to be the best match. I spoke with seven but he was the one lawyer of the bunch who seemed to want to work for me.
